27th Annual Joe I. Vigil Invitational Cross Country Meet

Meet this Friday and Saturday at Cattails Golf Course in Alamosa.

Action starts on Friday afternoon with the San Luis Valley High School races followed by the university races. Saturday's races kick off with an early 8 a.m. start of the middle school 3K followed by the high school races that will contain schools from outside the San Luis Valley.

Adams State's women were picked to win the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference by picking up 12 of the 13 first place votes in the Coaches' Poll. Adams State looks to defend their RMAC crown that they won in Grand Junction, Colo. last season. As a team, the Grizzlies placed five runners in the top eight earning 21 points. The Grizzlies went on to capture the NCAA Division II Championship by placing their top five runners in the top 11 to score an impressive 23 points. On the men's side, the Grizzlies were selected to finish second in the conference with nine first place votes. Adams State finished second in the RMAC with 73 points, just ahead of Western, who finished third with 76 points. At nationals, Adams State finished second with 136 points while the Orediggers won the national title with 57 points.


Due to a strict limit of attendees set by the state COVID-19 mandate, there will be absolutely NO spectators allowed inside the grounds of Cattails Golf Course during the meet. Fans will still be able to watch the meet via a live stream on the official ASU Grizzlies Facebook page.

Media members or sports information personnel wishing to attend the meet must contact Director of Sports Information Eric Flores by email at erflores@adams.edu to obtain a pass for the event. Athletes, coaches, and media members will check in and have their temperature taken at the check in table before entering the course and only those with the correct wristbands for the time frame will be allowed in and wristbands must remain visible at all times.


Masks must always be worn by all attendees except for athletes during their race times only. All high school and middle school teams are allowed just six athletes and two coaches per team.
