The Alamosa Rotary Club would like to invite all interested individuals to our regular meeting on Monday October 30th at 12:00 noon. The meeting will be held at Juanito’s Mexican Kitchen, 2069 First Street, Alamosa, CO 81101.
Cristalray and Jamie Dominguez, founders of the Shooting Stars Cultural and Leadership Center, will be our speakers. The center is a historic adobe building on the corner of 9th and Ross they acquired last year and renovated to hold classrooms, offices, a functioning kitchen, a day care and a large meeting space. The center has successfully sponsored a program to train people how to play an active role in the community, how to be a part of decision making, how to navigate systems — like city council or the school district or financial institutions. In other words, how to become a leader. The Alamosa School District’s Family Center located at the center was created to reach out to students and families who have historically encountered challenges in interacting with the school district. And the center is so much more.
