The Narrow Gauge Book Cooperative is pleased to announce Ayzlynn Sowards as their featured artist for August. Ayzlynn’s work will go up on August 1st, and she will have a reception on August 14th from 4pm-6pm.

About the artist:

Ayzlynn is an emerging artist from the San Luis Valley whose work mainly focuses on high-contrast, detail driven visuals of animals and the human figure. Often working on scratch board and other mixed media, she uses fine lines and extreme attention to detail to capture texture, emotion, and still moments in life. Ayzlynn is currently exploring different mediums and styles as they transition out of high school and into the art community, continuing to develop a style that balances realism with mood and atmosphere.

Artist Statement:

Ayzlynn is still in the early stages of finding her medium and art style, but she has always been drawn to animals, details, and strong contrast. She focuses on the small details, such as the curve of a beak, the reflection in an eye, giving her work visual texture. Working with scratchboard and graphite have both been challenging in their own ways, but she loves the thrill of adding details. Even though she is still experimenting and exploring mediums and techniques, this series shows my growing interest in combining realism, texture, and mood to create images that feel real and intimate.
