The Narrow Gauge Book Cooperative is pleased to host a writing workshop led by Linda Anderson Smith and Frankie Colton. The workshop will run from 6pm-7:30pm, and is free to attend. Please go to narrowgaugebooks.com and select “events” to register.

On August 26th at 6pm, join Linda and Frankie for a workshop that will teach you how to go beyond names and dates as we collect and share our personal and family stories, enriched with historical context. This entertaining presentation will walk you through some tips, tricks, and perils to watch for. Linda and Frankie will talk about what your loved ones really want to know about you, and how to navigate tricky topics as you integrate your story with state and national history. Bring your questions and something to write with. A hands-on activity and examples to inspire you will leave you with useful resources and a start to your project.

About the workshop leaders:

Frankie Colton is a storyteller, writer, historian, dog lover, and retired teacher and librarian. She and her daughter, Linda, are founders of the Conejos Writers Circle, which has been going strong since 2010. Linda Anderson Smith is a former member of the Association of Personal Historians and a professional personal historian who now works in public health emergency management. She and her mother, Frankie, co-authored the book Lies, Rumors and Family Stories: How to Write Your History.

This workshop is free to attend but is limited to 12 participants. Please bring your own writing supplies.
