The Narrow Gauge Book Cooperative is pleased to host a double-feature reading for Denver-based authors, Jacqueline St. Joan and SETH Harris. Join us on September 25th at 6pm for a reading followed by a discussion and signing. Jacqueline St. Joan will discuss her memoir, Your Verdict, and SETH will focus on his latest book The Reluctant Messiah.

Jacqueline St. Joan is a former lawyer for battered women and a Colorado judge who has advanced degrees in law and in creative writing. Her legal career was largely devoted to advocacy for policies and programs to end violence against women, and she won a number of awards, including the Judicial Excellence Award, the Law Stars Alumni Award, the YWCA Woman of Achievement Award. A social justice activist throughout her life, she served as Colorado State Co-coordinator for the Center for Common Ground, a BIPOC-led national voting rights organization, and was recently inducted into the Colorado Women Hall of Fame.

She writes poetry, fiction, and non-fiction. Her memoir, Your Verdict: A Judge’s Reckoning with Law and Loss, was published by Golden Antelope Press in 2026.

SETH Harris openly admits to having a love affair with language. His passion for words, particularly the rhythms and sounds of speech, extends not only to his craft but to his presentation. SETH has made a career carving out creative ways of presenting his poetry and short fiction.

One of Colorado’s best known performance poets, SETH has collaborated with countless musicians, poets, actors, dancers and other performance artists in a never- ending quest to render poetry more entertaining, and thus more accessible, to general audiences. Over the years he has garnered numerous awards for his pioneering efforts to meld spoken word with the other performance art forms.

His most recent work, The Reluctant Messiah, is a creative non-fiction hybrid in which a ragtag assemblage of poets, performers and provocateurs examine the world’s great religions, dissert Western dualism, the Good vs. Evil myth, the art of poetry, quantum physics and more.
